Welcome to Music Release University!
Allow me to introduce myself, I am a multi-platinum recording artist, producer, author, and executive producer who understands the music business and industry from all facets. My name is Aulsondro “Novelist” Hamilton but my peers know me as Emcee N.I.C.E. I am a 30+ year music industry veteran.
As an authority in the music business, who first landed on the Billboard Charts in 1994 with Latin rap group, A Lighter Shade of Brown, I subsequently went on to achieve multiple No. 1 records on the Billboard Charts as an independent artist. Throughout my career I found myself wanting to be immersed in each phase of the of the music industry and the business of music. Yes, there is a difference.
As a professional recording artist, with the group KansasCali, I’ve appeared on 8 motion picture soundtracks, the notables include Crash (won the Oscar for “Best Picture”), Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Haven, and Kickin’ It Old Skool. I’m a Stellar Awards Winner, a 9 time Spin Awards winner, a 4 time Gospel Hip Hop Awards winner. I am a member and have appeared on the ballots of the Grammys and the Dove Awards. I am also the co-creator of the first African-American animated music series to appear on Netflix called “Da Jammies”.
Needless to say “The music business changed my life!”
With each accolade came wisdom, and over the years I've applied that wisdom to stay on top by understanding the nuances and politics that govern the industry. As a successful independent artist in the music business I am often asked how to do it. Every other phone call is a friend or friend of a friend calling me or complete stranger DM’ing me about the music business. They are overwhelmed by the abundance of mis-information out there and they are tired of being taken advantage of physically, emotionally, and financially. After listening to countless stories I felt compelled to create this course with my team. I wanted to further level the playing field for indie artists by sharing my journey and life long music business lessons I’ve learned to sharpen my skills and keep me relevant today!
Today’s the day! I encourage you all to enroll in a class and then apply what you’ve learned to grow as a person and artist. It will take some practice, dedication, and attention to details, but your dreams can come true!
Over the next few lessons I will discuss the steps I took to get to where I am today and you’ll learn the tips and tricks that helped me gain the confidence I needed to have longevity in the music business. I can’t wait to share with you!
